MADE YOU LOOK
A DYNAMIC FUSION OF DRUMS AND VOICE
WITH A BACKSTORY AS CAPTIVATING AS THEIR MUSIC...
Made You Look was formed through the collaboration of two very
different yet immensely talented members, Alex and Shelton. Their unique history began in a boxing
gym, where Alex was an aspiring fighter. With Shelton helping to prepare him for a match, the bout
ended with a bloody nose and a black eye.
This experience led to the two becoming friends, often sharing music until their unexpected reunion
at an R&B event. During this encounter, Shelton recognized Alex’s strong potential as a rapper and
invited him to collaborate on his project, Deadbeat.
After years of performing together across the New Zealand music festival scene, their
relationship evolved. This unstoppable duo eventually became Made You Look in 2022 and is now ready
to enter the pop world.

Shelton
Shelton, one half of Made You Look, has an extensive history in the world of music.
He began his career as a drummer for the alternative rock band Blindspott, first making an
impact in 1997. By 2008, Shelton had left the band and formed the group I Am Giant in the United
Kingdom before returning to New Zealand to further their careers. His first solo project finally
came to light in 2017 when he launched the musical persona Deadbeat.
However, Shelton’s career has expanded beyond drumming and producing, as he has also
participated in photography exhibitions and served as a judge on The X Factor. With the
establishment of Made You Look, Shelton is now ready for a new chapter in his career. After all,
“A dream will only remain a dream if it’s left on a pillow.”
Alex
Alex’s story is a testament to the success that can grow from always pushing
forward. From a young age, he was fascinated by CD covers and band posters and often wrote
lyrics of his own. This passion led Alex to record his first album at the age of 11 in his
uncle’s basement studio. Continuing to make music, he eventually created his alias,
MR.O6OO.
After meeting Shelton in 2020, Alex began sending him self-produced music for several years.
This consistent effort eventually led to the recognition of his untapped potential and the
formation of a new project.
Coming from a harder hip-hop background, Alex is now ready to merge with the pop genre in his
roles as both a vocalist and producer.
